Originally from Northern Ireland, Gary Kelly is the Owner and Lead Veterinary Surgeon at Vetemis Referral Clinic, a centre dedicated to cutting-edge endoscopy and minimally invasive surgery. He graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2003, and has since built a career defined by clinical excellence and innovation in veterinary medicine.

Expertise & Special Interests

Gary began his leadership journey at Warren House Veterinary Centre, becoming Director in 2013, Managing Director in 2016, and eventually sole owner in March 2021. Under his direction, the clinic became renowned for its advanced capabilities in endoscopy and laparoscopy. This focus culminated in the launch of Vetemis Referrals (VETerinary Endoscopy and Minimally Invasive Surgery) — a dedicated referral service for complex diagnostic and surgical cases.

Gary’s primary clinical interests lie in diagnostic and interventional endoscopy and advanced laparoscopic procedures. His professional qualifications include:

· Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (CertAVP)

· Postgraduate Certificate in Small Animal Surgery (PgCert SAS)

· Postgraduate Certificate in Endoscopy & Endosurgery GPCert (Endo) PgC SAEE

· Advanced Laparoscopy course (IRCAD Centre and European College of Veterinary Surgeons, Strasbourg)

He is also an active member of the Veterinary Endoscopy Society, attending international events and courses to stay at the forefront of veterinary and comparative surgical techniques. With his wife Tereza, he also attends advanced laparoscopy courses designed for human surgeons, helping to pioneer the translation of cutting-edge human surgical techniques into veterinary practice.

Gary is an academically active veterinary surgeon, contributing to the growing body of research in minimally invasive veterinary surgery. Notably, he collaborates with leading international experts, including Dr. Federico Massari at a specialist centre in Milan, Italy.

Beyond Veterinary Medicine

Gary is married to Tereza, a human surgeon and co-director of Vetemis since 2021. Together, they are raising four children. Outside the clinic, Gary is deeply passionate

about martial arts—holding a black belt in Karate and a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
